It is a day of prayers, celebrations and inaugurations. Dr. Andreas Schild, director general of ICIMOD inaugurated the ICIMOD Information Centre, and the repeat photography exhibition: 50 Years of Change - Glaciers, Landscapes, People and Resilience in the Mount Everest Region, Nepal and gave his inaugural speech at the Everest Base Camp. The virtual photo exhibition is also available in a Google Earth.

The Silver Jubilee Anniversary of ICIMOD for mountains and its people at the Everest Base Camp surely was a unique event with cutting of the jubilee cake, baked at the Everest Base Camp bakery (started by entrepreneurial Dawa Steven).

The climax of the event was Dr. Andreas Schild handing over the ICIMOD silver jubilee flag to Dawa Steven Sherpa, the leader of the climbing team, to be taken to the top of the world !!
