Message from Reinhold Messner

Best wishes to the Eco Everest Expedition 2008. I fully support this important mission, which will bring a lot of information, hope and inspiration for all the Himalayan regions.

Global warming is a fact and it is affecting the Himalayas extremely. Especially the danger of breaking off glacier lakes has to be studied to avoid future catastrophes.

Message from Wolfgang Nairz

Wolfgang Nairz summited Everest on May 3rd, 1978, but he is probably better known as the expedition leader of the AULEX 78 expedition in which Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler summited Everest 5 days later, becoming the first climbers to summit Everest without the use of bottled oxygen.

Wolfgang Nairz also led the Austrian Manaslu 72 expedition which made the first ascent via the SW face.
